The FDA approved a new drug to prevent men with atrophic vaginitis (OM) and other vulvar and vaginal conditions, which have been associated with increased risks of urinary tract infections, urinary tract infections and vaginal thrush, after oral contraceptives are contraindicated.
The medication, known generically as conjugated estrogens, is intended for use by women who are over 50 and who have a history of vulvar or vaginal atrophy. Premarin is the brand name of the drug, and is used in some countries to treat symptoms of Premarin-associated menopause. A recent study by the US FDA found that a higher dose of conjugated estrogens than placebo in women with a vaginal and vulvar atrophy was associated with a lower risk of urinary tract infections, urinary tract infections and vaginal thrush, compared to a placebo.
Premarin is also known for its effects on menopausal symptoms. It has been used as an oestrogen, and may increase the risk of developing uterine cancer in women with a uterus, according to a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

I was having an interesting conversation with my pharmacist who was a big proponent of thepremarincream. The cream was the #1 choice I used the most. If you are taking the cream, do not drive or operate heavy machinery. It is not a good idea to take the cream while you are taking the pill. It can cause the body to be thrown into a cycle of overproduction.
